Water

Good hydration is a key factor in maintaining a healthy skin. The hydration comes from drinking PURE, CLEAN water and not liquids such as sodas or even soups. Water moves out the toxins from our body and leaves skin looking healthier and glowing. Recommended intake varies .However, on an average an individual should atleast consume 8 glasses of water to keep himself well hydrated.

Green Tea

This "miracle beverage" has anti-inflammatory properties and protects the skin against sun damage.. Whether taken orally or applied over the skin, it protects the skin against the burning rays of the sun, thereby reducing risk of skin cancer.

Breakfast and Healthy Skin

Selenium is a protective agent for the skin against oxidative damages. It is present in alot of foods which can be incorporated into our breakfast such as Whole wheat bread, Muffins, Cereals, Turkey, Tuna and Brazil nuts. Consuming more of whole grain products is a healthy choice than the white foods which affect insulin levels often causing inflammation and maybe linked to skin breakouts.

Essential fatty acids are responsible for healthy cell membranes which hold moisture. This means healthy, plumper and younger looking skin. The essential fatty acids also protect the skin against harmful inflammatory processes. Best known essential fatty acids are Omega 3 and Omega 6 which should be in balance for healthy skin. Fish, Walnut, Flaxseed and Canola oil are among the best sources .

What are foods for healthy skin ?

 Most experts believe a well balanced diet is the best way to get healthy skin. However the most important component of skin health is Vitamin A. Essential sources of Vit A are  - low fat dairy products like low fat yoghurt. Foods rich in antioxidants like strawberries, blackberries, blueberries and plums are also important for skin health. Recently prunes, pecans and beans have been shown to be having high anti-oxidant properties.
